Jewelry Material Guide – Moissanite, CZ, Silver, Brass & Plating

Understanding jewelry materials helps retailers sell with confidence. This guide explains the stones, metals, and plating used in Warm Fortune wholesale jewelry. All material disclosures are SKU-specific — always review the product page before ordering.

 Moissanite

Moissanite is a lab-created gemstone known for its fire and brilliance, similar to diamond. With Mohs hardness of 9.25, it is highly scratch-resistant and suitable for daily wear. Moissanite is not diamond — it is a distinct gemstone with different pricing and perception. Our moissanite is typically set in gold-plated 925 sterling silver.

Cubic Zirconia (CZ)

Cubic Zirconia (CZ) is a synthetic gemstone used to simulate the look of diamond. With Mohs hardness of 8-8.5, it offers a more accessible price point than moissanite. CZ is not diamond — it is a diamond-simulating material widely used in fashion jewelry. Our CZ jewelry is typically set in gold-plated brass.

Lab-Grown Diamond

Lab-grown diamond has the same chemical composition and crystal structure as natural diamond, created in a laboratory using advanced technology. We only use "Lab-Grown Diamond" when the product is genuinely diamond. Lab-grown diamond products are quoted separately and require approval. Do not confuse with moissanite or CZ.

925 Sterling Silver

925 sterling silver is an alloy containing 92.5% pure silver, with the remaining 7.5% made up of other metals (typically copper) for added durability. Our silver pieces are gold-plated (yellow, white, or rose gold) to enhance shine and tarnish resistance. Sterling silver naturally tarnishes over time — refer to our Jewelry Care Guide for maintenance.

Brass

Brass is a copper-zinc alloy commonly used as a base metal in fashion jewelry. All our brass products are gold-plated to achieve yellow, white, or rose gold finishes. Brass does not carry the material value of sterling silver or gold but offers an accessible price point for fashion-forward accessories.

Gold Plating

Gold plating is a thin layer of gold electroplated over a base metal (sterling silver or brass). Plating provides a gold-toned finish but will wear over time with friction and exposure. Care practices extend the life of plating: avoid chemicals, wipe after each wear, and store in a pouch when not in use.
